Renfrew Town 4 AC Milanda 0
Team -Mitchell, Evans (Fawns), O'Neill, Ross, Binnie, Daly (Allan), Grehan, Murray, Harley (MacDougall), Macdonald, Reid.
Renfrew Town proved too good for Milanda for the first time in four games.
The match was played on Astroturf at Crownpoint after the grass pitches at Renfrew’s usual home venue were deemed unplayable.
Milanda got off to a poor start, losing a goal inside the first few minutes, and never looked likely to repeat the heroics of the three previous league meetings between the sides. Renfrew scored again before the break and only some good goalkeeping by Ross Mitchell kept the score respectable at the break.
Milanda were more in the game in the second period but too often the final ball wasn’t good enough which meant chances were few and far between. There were only two real scoring opportunities of note. Paul Murray had a close-range shot saved after good lead-up play by himself and substitute Neil MacDougall then another substitute, Marc Allan, had a shot blocked.
Renfrew were more clinical and added two more goals to finish with a comfortable victory.
MOM: Paul Murray put a lot into the game in midfield and takes the award for the second consecutive game. Ross Mitchell, Paul Ross - back with the squad after a work-related absence - Gerry Evans, Jim Binnie and Kevin Grehan were best of the rest.
